The Vank church of Esfahan:<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no doubt that this is the nicest church in Iran which was built by Armenians from Jolfa near the border of Iran and Nakhichevan who were taken to Esfahan by Shah Abbas the Safavid (1571- 1629) to run away from Ottomans. They also called this place Jolfa in order to remember the real Jolfa.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In those times this place was a part of royal territory and nowadays it is still a high class region, full of great restaurants and cafes, shopping centers and museums. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Vank is the name of a beautiful flower which used to be in real Jolfa and the Armenians named some places after this flower. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to the great influence of Persian Islamic architecture, this church was built in Persian Islamic style and shows you a gorgeous dome instead of an ordinary pointy roof of a church. <\/strong><\/p>\n

When you enter the area, a shop full of handicrafts draws your attention on the left side and right after buying the ticket on the right side you visit a small cemetery in which there are the tombstones of some prominent people of Armenians. Then you enter the main hall of church in which there are so many pictures of Christianity from both Old Testament and bible. The alter perse\u2019 let you submerge in peace and happiness. <\/strong><\/p>\n

After visiting the church and lighting a candle for the souls, it is a good time to visit the museum of Armenians. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In two floors you would know so many things about the history of Armenians before and after Christianity. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Armenians have been living close to the Caspian Sea since four thousand years ago but in those times there were called Urartu; one of the Aryan tribes. They have been always one of the most influential tribes in the Middle East. <\/strong><\/p>\n

To visit this special church you should just go to Jolfa then everybody and everything guides you there. <\/strong><\/p>\n
