The palace of Susa in Shush:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The palace of Apadana in Shush, beside the excavation area and the museum of Shush are the achievements of Professor Roman Grishman which present the history of Susa from Elamites era to the Islamic period.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daryus the first; the second emperor of Achaemenids, decided to build a glorious palace in Susa as a winter settlement. He chose Susa as the winter capital. In ancient Persia the city of Susa was considered as the most important city in the region and could equal to Babylon in Mesopotamia that\u2019s why Daryus chose this great place to show his power to other nations and the past empires and at the same time he could be close to Babylon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Every part of this palace used to draw everyone\u2019s attention to the greatness of Achaemenids and this was a good reason for Alexander to destroy the whole palace to put an end to the glory and greatness of them, as he exactly did so to Persepolis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I mentioned earlier most of the excavation here were done by French archeologists and they built a French castle for themselves to save and restore all they had found and transfer them to France. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The worth thing about those French archeologists is that they built that castle by the Elamites bricks they had found in Susa. Even nowadays you can easily see those bricks on which the Elamite inscriptions are recognizable.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visiting the palace of Susa in the city of Shush is visiting alive history from ancient Persia to even Islamic era.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
