The Ancient city of Hegmataneh:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the heart of the old part of Hamedan there are the ruins of an ancient city which used to be one of the most important cities in ancient time and the capital City of Median Empire and the summer capital of Achamenids. This ancient city was excavated in late nineteenth century and the beginning of twentieth century by Professor Roman Grishman a great French archaeologist\u00a0who had so many excavations in Iran. There you can visit the ruins of an ancient city, a museum besides a contemporary church. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Herodotus; the father of history, mentioned the palace of Hegmataneh as a great luxurious palace which was unique and quite different from other palaces all around the world.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

While entering the city of Hamedan you pass by farmlands then the ordinary part then the heart of the city afterwards the mountains which reminds you of the architecture of an ancient city.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hamadan, Hegmataneh or Ekbatan has been always an important city since 4000 years ago when the Medians established their empire here.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even after them, the Achaemenids used this city as their summer capital and put the international road through Hegmataneh towards Turkey and Greece; which is recognizable nowadays, and it is even said that the greatest treasury of Achaemenids was buried here.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you enter the ancient city of Hegmataneh you face a vast area which used to be the most luxurious place around 4000 years ago worldwide and there you can visit the ruins of that ancient city then the museum of Hegmataneh in the middle of area awaits you to show you so many items from different excavations all around the province.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After visiting the museum you can visit a church from contemporary era which was built to remember an old church which had been burnt by fire and later was used by French archeologists who were excavating there.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To visit the ancient city of Hegmataneh you should go to the center of city which is old Bazaar then almost every sign leads you there.<\/strong><\/p>\n
