The Assyrian Inscription:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Golgol stone inscription is located near Golgol village on a wall of a mountain 25 kilometers from the city of Ilam. This carved stone belongs to Ashurbanipal of the 7th century BC. This illustrates an Assyrian (Ashuri) soldier with an arrow in his hand, a star and the moon (usually showing the time of the month) above his head. At the bottom, there are some sentences written in cuneiform script telling the story of Assyrian invasion which destroyed the civilization of Elam.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

People used to pass by and make different stories about this inscription but in 1973 it was translated and reveled the real story which had been kept for centuries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It says: “To Ashur and the Gods who supported their popular king who conquered on northern lands\u2026the king of the world\u2026son\u2026Ashur the father of the Gods appointed me to be the king inside my mother’s womb\u2026Enlil called out my name to patron the earth and people. Sin and Shamash cooperated to glorify my kingdom. Nabu and Marduk gave me deep understanding and wisdom. The great Gods gave me the kingdom of my father based on favor. City\u2026they went out\u2026praised what I have done. I wrote on it and left this inscription to agitate my kings and sons in future to appoint and nominate a king among sons by the great Gods to patron the earth and people. Watch this column and the praise of great Gods and shall you sacrifice and hold funeral ceremonies but remember that the one who displace the statue, will be cursed by the anger of Ashur and the great Gods, may they get misguided against Ashur, and may the great Gods protect his kingdom and they glorify his fame on earth.         <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
