{"id":7044,"date":"2022-04-02T00:45:52","date_gmt":"2022-04-01T20:15:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/specialexplorer.com\/?p=7044"},"modified":"2022-04-02T09:38:10","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T05:08:10","slug":"the-great-wall-and-the-ancient-city-of-gorgan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/specialexplorer.com\/?p=7044","title":{"rendered":"The great wall and the ancient city of Gorgan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Dating back to Sassanid era, the great wall of Gorgan, including 36 forts and 3 watching towers and having 200 kilometers long, starts in Gamishan and ends in Gildagh mountains which is considered as the longest ancient architectural monument after the great wall of China.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The best place to visit this wall is north of Gonbade Kavus.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The most prominent part of the wall is a four arch monument which is 180 cubic meters.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some call it the red snake as it is based on red bricks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is believed that three thousand soldiers could stay there to defend the wall. Based on the excavations the wall used to be 10 meters wide and 6 to 10 meters high.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In order to defend better there used be a canal; 10 to 30 meters wide, full of water around the wall.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The ancient city of Gorgan, three kilometers far from Gonbade Kavoos was the center of the area before the Mongol invasion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>Alongside the wall to<\/strong> mention great features of this city we indicate urban infrastructures like <strong>sewage effluent<\/strong>, cobblestone streets, water distribution system and central mosque besides so many handicrafts belonging to 6 different dynasties such as Sassanids, Samanids, Saljuks, Khwarazmian, <strong>Ilkhanates<\/strong>, Timurids and Safavids.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second longest ancient wall world wide&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":7045,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_bbp_topic_count":0,"_bbp_reply_count":0,"_bbp_total_topic_count":0,"_bbp_total_reply_count":0,"_bbp_voice_count":0,"_bbp_anonymous_reply_count":0,"_bbp_topic_count_hidden":0,"_bbp_reply_count_hidden":0,"_bbp_forum_subforum_count":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[750],"tags":[1601,1600,1602],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.2.1 -
