Its common color is golden brown to yellow. Significant yellow topaz crystals are found in Siberia, and pink crystals in Russia and blue crystals are found in Ukraine, Brazil, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. In Iran, some pegmatite veins of Alvand granite contain topaz.
