Under glass painting museum:
This museum that is located on Bardaran Ghaedi Street, presents a very special art. This art was imported from Italy and China in 16th century and especially in Qajar era. This art submerged into Iranian art to show pure Iranian art in a foreigner shape. Generally speaking it is Reverse painting on glass which consists of applying paint to a piece of glass then viewing the image by turning the glass over and looking through the glass at the image.
This shy museum is not very famous among Iranians so most of the people do not know how many valuable artistic works are kept there. This special gallery was founded in 1998 and was registered as one of the national monuments just one year later. Its building dates back to 1959 which was an ordered luxurious house belonging to Siavash Shaghaghi who was an important doctor but later on the building was sold to municipality then was given to cultural heritage organization. This is the first and best under glass painting museum ever in Iran. Nowadays you can visit various kind of this art in the second under glass painting all around the world there besides wood mosaic, wood carving and other Iranian arts which have been combined with this foreign art.
Iranians, through the history, always have taken artistic features from other nations but develop and correct them in a better way. So Iranian art is an international developed transcendental art which belongs to all of the nations but no nation can claim it except Iranians themselves.
To visit this museum you should go to Darvazeh Dowlat subway station then go towards south on Saadi Street and on the left side you find Baradaran Ghaedi, take it and on the junction of Nurmohammadi Street you will find something you are searching for. Remember that this museum is usually closed on Mondays.
