The museum of national arts:
This museum is located inside the ministry of culture and is an exhibition of best Iranian artistic handicrafts which were collected by Master Taherzadeh Behzad and was founded in 1930. This place in 19th century used to be the ministry of fine arts and Kamalolmolk; the greatest Iranian contemporary painter, used to teach here and raise so many great artists. You visit the best pure Iranian artistic handicrafts which cannot easily found anywhere else in this museum; wood mosaic, wood carving, mirror work, stucco work, miniature, etc. as it is inside the ministry you cannot visit it on Fridays and Thursdays on the other hand some security issues sometimes do not let you in. remember that women should wear strict hijab while entering. Frankly speaking, the artistic work inside the museum are something beyond your imagination, so it is worthwhile to spend your time to visit there. Its manager is also a nice knowledgeable woman about the history of art, who teaches at the university and let you know almost everything about Iranian art.
It is not a big museum but it is notable that all of the Iranian arts have been presented there very well. It is just like an encyclopedia of pure Iranian art which takes you through the history of art in Iran that you usually forget time and place and feel lost in art. Art is a proper presentation and demonstration of a culture, that’s why you simply know people from their art which is an insight into their culture and its features.
To visit this extraordinary art museum you should go to Baharestan subway station, when you come out of the station from the southern gate so on the right side the tall building of the ministry is completely apparent. You should enter the ministry from the southern gate.
