Jewish graveyard in Pirbakran:

One of the most different places you visit in Iran. The tombstones of Jews on which the carved shapes are so weird and abnormal in the country. This unique special place is just located forty five minutes south eastern part of the city of Esfahan in a small city called Pirbakran.

The history of Jews dates back to thousands years ago and no one really knows the precise time that they entered Iran but we know for sure they have always played an important role in the history of Iran.

Hamedan, Fars, Qazvin, Tehran, Khuzestan and Esfahan are the provinces in which there used to be so many Jews. That’s why even nowadays you can visit so many monuments and cultural elements from Jewish ideology.

There are more than thirty religious monuments in Iran which belong to Jewish prophets. Habakkuk and Daniel are just two of those great prophets who had a great influence on Iranians and even today are respected not only by Jews but also by all of the Iranians.

This graveyard is just one of those monuments which takes you to the history of Jews. It is said that this place was a holy place touched by the daughter of Moses the prophet. There is a small chapel in the corner of this graveyard in which the Jews gather to say prayer and visit this special place. Besides this holy chapel and nice tombstones there is another public chapel for praying which is very simple and glorious.  

    

Visiting this place let you know more about Jews in Iran and the democracy of religions in this country. No matter which religion you have, you can have your own freedom and live in peace together with other Iranians.
