Jameh mosque of Yazd:
One of the best masterpieces of mosque constructing all around the world which amaze every visitor by its great architecture. The architecture of this mosque especially in tile work is one of the best samples of combined religious motifs from different religions.
The history of this building dates back to nine centuries ago but so many experts believe that there used to be a fire temple before this huge mosque at the same place.
While entering it the huge arch and outstanding door distract you completely and invite you to visit a gorgeous place in heaven. Every single tile in this mosque tries to tell you a story. On the left side towards Mecca the roof represents more than a hundred names of Allah in an especial way. Then you enter a nice hall which is a great chapel on which a beautiful dome shows its glory to you. You also recognize some motifs from Zoroastrianism, Mithraism, Shia and Sunni Islam which proves that this place was an agreement and a contract between different religious Iranians to prove that Iran is a peaceful place for all the religions to get along with each other.
Right after that the big yard draws your attention by its huge stage which used to be a place to say prayer on.
If you continue your way towards the back door you find a door for the winter chapel right in underground of the yard and the staircases to the Ghanat or water canal.
Visiting The Jameh mosque of Yazd inside of Fahadan region; the second oldest live place worldwide, could be a highlight in Iran. All of the people in Yazd can lead you there as this is one of the most famous mosques in Iran.
The 25 meters dome could be seen from various palaces in the city to tempt you running there.
