The castle of Birjand in South Khorasan
Dating back to the Safavid era and located on top of a high cliff inside the city of Birjand, the castle of Birjand stands just like a smart eagle watching the whole city from above. Due to the fine restoration, this monument has saved its greatness of the days of glory. The whole area is around 3000 cube meters. There are six watching towers on four corners of the castle which have two floors. Among different elements inside the castle, the underground canals were something especial which used to connect important monuments to the castle in order to save people during the war.
Those canals were something unique which had been built delicately.
The castle of Birjand has a lot of stories to relate, about resistance and fighting against any eastern enemy.
