A specialized museum on carpet in the north of Laleh park which was opened just one year before the Islamic revolution. It presents the history of carpet and different types of carpet from all around Iran. The outdoor design looks like carpet loom and inside you visit two floors in which the beauty and glory of Iranian art blossoms.

 

This unique treasury influences every single tourist by its appearance and antique carpets. Besides two saloons it consists of library, theater hall, café, temporary and permanent exhibition and restoration workshop. Inside you experience cozy and peaceful circumstances which helps you communicate with the most glorious symbol of Iranian art in a calm area. The carpets you visit there are the best samples of Iranian carpets which do not have any other samples anywhere else on earth; from Kashan silk carpet to Kerman kilim.   

      

Visiting this museum means visiting the acme of Iranian art. Carpet weaving has a long history in Iran and to be honest no one is quite sure when the first carpet was woven! But we know that it was an important industry around three thousand years ago. This Technic has passes down properly from one generation to another. Even nowadays the masters of carpet industry can plan and weave a carpet whose sample dates back to four centuries ago so the same carpet is woven after so many years and this proves that the Technic has been kept very well among the masters.

To visit this brilliant museum you should go to the junction of Fatemi and Karegar streets at north western part of Laleh Park (formerly known as Farah Park) which is one of the most beautiful modern parks in Iran. Remember that usually you are not allowed to take photo inside. On the other hand wandering in Laleh would be a real fun that is an added value to this visit.
