The museum of holly defense:
This is a very modern museum in which you know and learn about the history and stories of eight years imposed war between Iran and Iraq. (1980-1988) this is one of the largest garden museum in Iran which includes seven halls, garden path, artificial lake, theater hall etc. There is considered as the most modern and technological museums in the Middle East, west of Asia and the largest war museum among Islamic countries.
Each hall tells you a lot of stories based on its circumstances and its name as they are Butterflies, Pavilion, Wonder and reality, defense, peace, Martyrdom, Triumph and Finale halls.
This war was one of the worth wars the Iranians were involved in due to the high pressure of all of the world against them they experienced in those years. It was just two years after the Islamic revolution and Iran had too many problems to solve; domestic conflicts, economic problems, sanctions made by U.S and some other western countries and the new unstructured government and so on. Iraq as a real enemy against Iran had so many problems with Iran, especially for borderlines and always wanted to attack Iran but as you know Iran was a good friend of U.S and NATO before the Islamic revolution so Iraq did not dare to fight against it. After the revolution as I mentioned before everything changed so Iraq found Iran a weak country without any support. On the other hand western and Arab countries encouraged Iraq to start the war to take revenge from Iranians.
The holly defense museum; belonging to the municipality of Tehran, has tries very well to present all of the things you need to know about this important war which had a great influence not only on the whole region but also on the whole world.
To visit this museum you can go to Haghani subway station or if you want to go by car first you should go to Vanak square then Haghani highway then the billboard of museum guides you to the right direction.
