The water museum of Yazd:

In this museum you find out in such hot and dry weather, how the Iranian engineers could conquer the nature and manage the water in order to make a green paradise in the heart of desert.

About three third of the whole country of Iran has been fighting against drought and hot weather through the ages, so managing water sources has always been a real concern for the people and their rulers.

In different parts of Iran people have tried various ways to control and preserve water but in near desert this issue is a difficult task to do.

The people of desert, far from water sources, have learned very well to get along with the hardship of the wild nature they are living in. They used to dig down water canals underground to transfer water from its sources. We see even the canal which used to transfer water from more than eighty kilometers far away.

Not only digging these canals is something outstanding but also preserving them is a real special task to do.

In this museum you find out every single aspect and detail of this huge and outstanding process. We know for sure that at least it’s been more three thousand years that in Yazd people doing this way to stay alive in the heart of desert.

To visit this special museum you should go to Amirchakhmaq square which is undoubtedly the most famous square in the city of Yazd.
