Meybod; alive tradition and history

The city of Maybod just close to the great city of Yazd has always tried to equal to it that’s why in any aspect it has a lot to say. The history of this city dates back to more than three thousand years ago and the civilization used to present itself as one of the greatest one in Iran.  

The old part including Narin Ghale (castle), bazaar, Chaparkhaneh, water reservoir and caravanserai show you a good sample of an ancient traditional Persian city.

The long streets which break and preserve the winds coming through the city from desert. The high walls give you more shades and the material of the whole place which is a kind of mud especially in summer help decreeing temperature in a proper manner.  

  

 

  1. Narin Ghaleh

A strong untouched castle whose time of construction is not clear for anybody but it seems has a long history even before the Parthians.   

This castle in the center of the old part of the city let you know how the central castle in old Persian cities help people defend themselves against enemies.

      2. Chaparkaneh 

An amazing and interesting museum which presents the history of mailing system in Iran very well and proves that it was Iranian in history who invented a fast mechanism to send messages as fast as possible.   

Visiting chaparkhaneh gives you an insight to find out how fast Persians could transfer their news in ancient times.

 

      3. The caravanserai

This is a good sample of a real caravansarai so you can feel and know the features and functions of this kind of resort there.   

Caravanserai was a proper place to receive passengers and change their moods to the best moods they could achieve. The modern shape of caravanserai is motel which is quite famous to everyone all around the world.

Visiting different parts of the old city Meybod is a great opportunity for anybody to get acquaintance to the Persian civilization and architecture.
