The Old city of Bushehr
As the third most populated city in south of Iran, having five thousand years of civilization, the old city of Bushehr has been important for various dynasties such as Elamite, Achaemenids, Sassanids before Arab invasion and afterwards not only the kings and emperors but also in 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th foreign countries like Portugal and Great Britain paid attention to this strategic port in order to rule the Persian Gulf. That’s why many new inventions like telegraph or printing machine were imported to Iran from Bushehr.
Nowadays the old roots have helped people establish new trade system interacting with many countries.
Bushehr used to be called Lian in Elamite era which meant “the shining sun” in Babylonian language. In other historical documents both Persian and Greek, Bushehr is called Reyshahr, Bokhtardeshir, Germansika and Muzamberi.
Recent Bushehr is a little far from the ancient one which was founded by the order of Nader Shah around 300 years ago in order to be a great headquarter to trade and rule the Persian Gulf.
There are several old mansions and landmarks in the city of Bushehr which show the tradition, civilization and culture of people and city.
