Forg (Furg) is a nice village in the mountains of South Khorasan province with mountainous weather which is around 107 kilometers south east of Birjand; the capital of this province. The citadel of Forg is considered as one the most beautiful ones in Iran. Many believed that the Ismaili dynasty (10th to 12th A.D) built this citadel in order to fight against the Abbasids.
They trained their followers there to penetrate among their enemies and assassinate the prominent people of them. They had different citadels and castles all around Iran and the most famous one was Alamut ruled by Hassan Sabbah; the founder of the Ismaili dynasty.
Even nowadays you can feel the glory of those days when you stand on top of it and watching over the whole region.
