Pir Alamdar tower in Damghan

As the second oldest tower in Iran; dating back to a thousand years ago, Pir Alamdar tower is considered as one of the most important landmarks in the city of Damghan. Here is the shrine of the father of one of the commanders of Ale Ziar dynasty.

Having 13 meters height and 4.5 meters interior diameter besides using brick work design as one the pioneers of this kind make it a special tower all around the country.

The lower part of the tower represents a fine, simple and smooth brick work and the upper part shows great ornamentations presenting an inscription which have made this tower famous.      

There are three inscriptions in this tower by which we can know a lot about it.

The outdoor one, having 75 centimeters width, is attached on dome in which the date of foundation and the founder, the name of dead body, are mentioned.   

The second inscription inside the tower, having 80 centimeters, is included some verses of holy Quran.
