As the symbol of luck among Iranians, the turquoise stone is one of the most popular Iranian stones which is found in abundance in Iran. If we want to talk about this stone based on the world market, Neyshabur turquoise is one of the best and high-quality turquoises globally. This stone’s color classification varies from blue to green, but dark blue and uniform turquoise have a higher price than other types.
Turquoise is also mined in some other places such as the United States, Tibet, Afghanistan, Arizona and Egypt, but Neyshabur turquoise has a much higher value in the market. besides Neyshabour in Iran, Turquoise is also found in Damghan and Kerman.
Due to its color it used to be considered as a symbol of heaven on earth in ancient time. In ancient Persia it was called Piruzeh which means victory but the Europeans usually supposed it comes from Turkey and considered it as a Turkish product but it was the country through which this stone was imported to Europe.
Mining this stone dates back to three thousand years ago in Iran. It usually has three types which are Fine ring stones are called Anqushtari. Persian Turquoise stones of intermediate quality are called Barkhaneh. Persian Turquoise Stones that are pale, greenish, or with spots from the matrix are called Arabi.
